We all know Paul McCobb for the elegant lines and refined style he incorporated into his mid-century modern designs. In the mid-50’s he released the Directional Designs furniture line. This series of furniture was intended to bring high-end design to the middle class consumers with low-cost options. The vintage armless lounge pair pictured here was part of the Directional Designs (1955) and is found at wright20.com. The catalogue illustrating his coordinating room systems can still be purchased today. It was news to me that he had such a desire to make his product accessible. I see now why he was called “America’s Decorator” by the mid century.
